Hi George,

thank You very, very much for posting this pic of a very rare vehicle, a Henschel type Mercur 4500 S or HGS 4500, the first pic of this vehicle I´ve ever seen.

Best regards

Bert

Hi bert

See this link http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Homepage_ ... erkur.html

I can see some differences between both vehicles: the cab is totally different, the bumper is different also and other small details.... :?

Hi Sturm 78,

the truck on Holgers site is the all wheel driven type "Mars" 4500 A. Here another pic of the type "Mars" out of the book "Typenkompass Henschel Lastwagen 1925 - 1974" by Wolfgang H. Gebhardt.

Best regards

Hi Bert,

Well, perhaps you are right. Normally the differences between the 4x2 and 4x4 versions of the same truck model were very small... :?
Wheel hubs, front axle, height over the ground,....

Hi Sturm 78,

You are right, of course. I have found an interesting information, that in 1942 there were delivered sets of parts for 341 trucks to Saurer for the assembly. Henschel were engaged in other production lines. Maybe there (Saurer) were used other cabs, bumpers and so on. It´s still an interesting question.

Best regards

Bert
