► Photothread: Vehicles of the Axis fire brigades
Hi all,
how about a new thread on vehicles of the Axis fire services and fire brigades. The German ones were under the command of the Luftwaffe (WL - .....).
All pics of fire engines and vehicles are welcome.
I´l start with pics of an Opel "Blitz" 3t, so called Kraftfahrspritze FL KS 15, but the body came from Magirus
(source: Waffen-Arsenal S - 64 by Markus Jaugitz: Die Fahrzeuge der Luftschutzeinheiten der Luftwaffe).

Re: Vehicles of the Axis fire brigades
Hi Bill 13,
thank You very much for posting these very interesting pics of fire engines. These are fire engines of the fire brigade of Krakow (Krakau)I think the vehicles are Mercedes Benz LS 3000 (schweres Löschgruppenfahrzeug). I will post a pic of such a vehicle (source: Werner Oswald: Mercedes Benz - Lastwagen und Omnibusse 1896 - 1986.
To the text under the last pic:
Jose Finet y Escriva de Romani and Heinrich Himmler are observing an exercise in extinguishing a fire.
Regards
Bert

Re: Vehicles of the Axis fire brigades
Hello Henning,
Peter König of the firebrigade Marburg was a great help during the restoration of the car, he spent his uniform for the display ( see the photo ).
My Mercedes-Benz L3000 S Slg was during the war in Hessen and was working during the allied bombings in the german citys of Marburg , Giesen, and Frankfurt .
The car was after the war taken by the American troops and they put it in a Civilian Vehicle Pool in Marburg, it was the 227 vehicle.
I know the vehicle of Brilon and send some information during the restoration the car.
I am really sorry that I cannot help you with the adress of the owner of the Opel Blitz, I have see the car now for the first time.
Hans

Re: Vehicles of the Axis fire brigades
Hello Hans
I found the owner of the Blitz, its the Museum in Wouwse Plantage Ned. its from the www site on your first pic.
Are you a Fire-volunteer too?
I had a very interessting conversation with Mr König. They get a same Typ of KS15 Magirus LK in 1940.
Our Magirus Lk was build in 1937. We show it http://www.ffjork.de than the buton LF15 Oma
Pics from both cars.
A last question why do you paint your car in grey?
I think the cars of the "Feurlöschpolizei" were in " tannengrün" and the Cars of the SHD and Luftwaffe were in luftwaffengrau?
and your car was delivered to the comune of Wetter?
best regards
Henning

Re: Vehicles of the Axis fire brigades
Hello Henning,
The color of my Mercedes-Benz was in 1942 Matt Grey ( RAL 7021). See the photos, under the Red color was the Matt Grey!
In years till 1942 the colors used by the Feuerschutpolizei and Feuerlöshpolizei were indeed Tannengrün with Black in Glossy.
After 1943 we see that much of the firebrigade cars were painted in a sand color.
The history of my car you can find easely under :
http://www.feuerwehr-wetter.org/index.p ... geschichte
I am a Mercedes-Benz car collector but only of the years 1934-1944 most of the cars have a military history also, I am not by the firebrigade myself but through the restoration of the car I became many friends by the Feuerwehr in Germany
Many people have send me information, as I see you come from Hamburg....so I remember Hans Brunswig , he was a great help also and I have become much information directly from his hand, as you know he was in the war in Hamburg during the Feuersturm.
Oma looks great to me!!
