Hi George,

thank You for posting this pic of a captured Russian fire-truck (type PMG - 1 on a GAZ-AA chassis).
Here another vehicle with a special equipment of a German fire brigade: Magirus M 50 (source of the pic: an expired ebay auction).

Best regards

Bert

Hello Sturm and uncle,
Uncle you are correct. I have it as an L3000 S Slg:

Hi guys,
I cannot agree with you, sorry. WM-9378 is definitely bigger, note the size compared with the firefighter near the vehicle. No doubt it is Mercedes but I think it is at least LoD/LoF 3750.

Cheers!

Thanks to all for your answers.

It is true that the truck of my image seem bigger than L3000 but the wheels of the bigger MB trucks usually used Simplex rims... :?

Hi Sturm 78, uncle, Max, ilfil,

interesting discussion, but I think uncle and Max are right, that it is a so called Schweres Löschgruppenfahrzeug (SLG) or Löschgruppenfahrzeug LF 15 on the chassis of a Mercedes-Benz L 3000 S. Here a pic of such a vehicle of a former German fire brigade, now in private hands.

One thing that puzzles me is that the windscreens on my/uncle's vehicles appear to be different than those on Sturm's/Bert's in that the lower edge is slightly curved as opposed to straight. Is this significant in determining the type? I don't know.
Cheers,
Max

Hi Max,

that´s a good question. But in the book "Feuerwehrtypenbuch 1900 - 1945" by Udo Paulitz there is the information, that the cab and superstructure was not always built by Daimler-Benz in Stuttgart, but by Metz in Karlsruhe and also by smaller firms like Meyer-Hagen in Hagen.

Best regards

Hi Sturm 78, hi shamirnewell,

the abbreviation LF 25/36 (LF = Löschfahrzeug ) is an improved version of the LF 25 (a further development of the KS 25 (Kraftspritze 25) and was produced from 1943.
Good ID, shamirnewell. Please, can You go on with the quiz of Axis non-armored vehicles? Thanks in advance.

Regards

Bert
