Re: ► Photothread: German armoured trains
The armored locomotive shown in Sturm78’s Post #364 is a Russian steam locomotive and I believe it has a 0-10-0 wheel arrangement. The Russian State Railway operated several different classes of 0-10-0 locomotives but is is difficult to identify this one due to the position it has in the photo.
At this time I believe this locomotive could be a Class E or a Class SY type based on the position of the armored cover on the boiler top and have attached a photo of each one in its normal operating condition for reference.
These locomotives operated on the normal Russian wide gauge (5’ wide) track.
Russian 0-10-0 Steam Locomotive Class E
Russian 0-10-0 Steam Locomotive Class SY

Re: ► Photothread: German armoured trains
Hi Armin,
Cheers!
Right. In Italian these were known with the common name 'Littorina blindata Libli' but this particular one on the picture was one of the few produced for the Wehrmacht in 1944, that's why the official designation is 'Panzer-Triebwagen Typ 062 (Fiat)'. On the Italian variants ('tipo F.I.A.T. 556 mod. 42 and mod. 43, Libli 1 and Libli 2 respectively) the frame antenna and the armament are different.
Cheers!
