Re: Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
Can anyone ID this Reichspost bus with the unusual driver's side window?
Cheers,
Max

Re: Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
Sorry Max, it is hard to tell from this angle.
Here is another, maybe based on a Büssing-NAG?

Re: Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
Hi,
Except of a few detail it looks to me like Leyland chassis (I don't know the exact type) with "Wytwórnia Karoserii i Przyczepek Samochodowych Józef Zagórski" body. Such buses were built in Poland in 1938 for "Silesian Bus Lines" and it seems at least one of them fell into German hands in 1939. During Polish civil service they looked like this: link to NAC: http://www.audiovis.nac.gov.pl/obraz/85 ... 87b9d9d9e/

Hi Kerry,
The front end certainly looks like an early pre-1937 Blitz:

Re: Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
I think this might be a Büssing-NAG 80 N, not sure exactly who made the coachwork.Maxschnauzer wrote:Can anyone ID this Reichspost bus with the unusual driver's side window?
Here is similar bus with the caption: "Büssing-NAG 80 N 'Langer Sachse', 1934 320PS 2x6 cylinder. Bodywork by Linke-Hofmann-Busch in Bautzen.

Hi Luftflotte,
Thank you for your input. I think you're right that it could be a B-N although I haventfound an exact type match. I've recently come across a pic of a similar bus (which unfortunately is partially obscured by a postal box) and there are some significant differences to the 80N, e.g. headlamp position, wheels, and vent dampers/louvers which may or may not be attributed to a specific coachbuilder. What do you think?

Re: Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
That is up to coachbuilder. The best way to tell is from estimating the wheelbase, shape of the bonnet and wheel position in relation to the front bumper. It looks close to a Mercedes N 56 but I feel like it is closer to a Büssing.
Some photos for comparison of 6 wheelers:

Re: Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
Thanks again, Luftflotte. I think the N56 is certainly a possibility.

1940 photo of a Büssing-NAG and what the seller thought was a Mercedes.

Not sure about this one. Seller suggest it was captured.
