Bert:
Actually, I was only joking.
There are a few photos of not only Borgward but also Hansa passenger cars used by the Germans and other forces somewhere on the internet or in private collections. I think such photos have a place on this thread and I will try to find some more to post here.

Dunno, Bert but if you use just a little imagination, you could almost make the dog a Borgward except the diamond is sort of up and down instead of across.

Re: Bloody Hansa LLoyd/Borgwards
Hello Bill
what is your source from the Holzgas 3 Tonner? The same pic is in the Borgward book from Peter Michels published in 1982.
I think its the civil axle to axle measure from 4,20 m.
best regards
Henning

Hi Henning:
Must have been ebay.de as it is dated 0310, March 2010. Should have been in the last few days and I will look around to see if I can find it again.

I think both pics are post war Borgward B1250. It isnt HL, since 1939 all trucks named Borgward.
The first is the version from 1949-1952, the second is the face lift since dec 1951 also a B1250.
The body looks like a police raid car, I think dont build by Borgward. May be from Thiele, Bremen a great body builder, in cooperation with Borgward.

Re: Bloody Hansa LLoyd/Borgwards
Hi Henning:
Thanks for clearing up the Police vehicles. I just was not sure if they were early or late vehicles and as we keep saying here Hansa LLoyd/Borgward vehicles are not too well documented at least in my research.
Regarding the photos showing up on ebay.de or even other similar sites, I can only say that the authors of any book got their photos from some source or another that may be available to others.
I have been following various ebay sites, maybe from 5-6 countries, for years now and I can count in the hundreds the photos I have seen that are being sold on these sites that have also appeared in various books over the years.
There are several Forums that are devoted to almost 100% the subject of WWII photos and I have read many times that tens of thousands of photos that are legitimate period photos were reproduced at the time in large quantities for distribution to the units that were the subject of the photos. In other words, a bakery company may have had photos made either by the PK folks or by ordinary members of the company and everyone got a copy.
So now, 65 years later, as so many albums and original collections come on the market, you may see, as I do, several sellers offering the same photos and they for the most part seem to be "original". And, of course, this has been going on for now some 20 years really as veterans of the war died off and their relatives sold or donated the photos as they had no interest in them.
I can also say that in my 55 years of collecting materiel on military vehicles, I have recieved many times exactly the same photo from various authors I worked with that were doing books on the subject. Most times, each author thought that he had "the only copy" which was sadly not true.
With that, I will now take off my "Teacher's Cap" and go get another glass of wine. It is after all Friday evening and the beginning of the Spring Season so one should not maybe be so serious.
Cheers
Bill
