Hi,

The "white number" Tigers in the two above photos are 3/sSS Pz Abt 101 before going to Normandy and changing their number colouring a little.

This is a well-photographed Tiger, number "231" of s.Pz.Abt. 501, knocked out by British AT guns on the road to Robaa on 31 January 1943, subsequently demolished and examined by the British.

It was an "unlucky" vehicle. During the setup of the battalion it had severe transmission damage and went back to Henschel, returning too late to be part of the 1st company. The 2nd company then made their usual modifications, creating a unique Tiger unlike any of their other ones.

And of course, its bad luck was again in evidence when it became the battalion's first Tiger to be directly knocked out.

Its chassis number was 250011.
