For the others

"The two officers with SS camouflaged jackets are not SS (breast eagles!) but from the Panzer-Regiment 25, 7. Pz.Div during the Kursk offensive. The man on the left is Oberst Aldabert Schulz commander of the Regiment, the Tiger I in the background is from the s. Pz.Abt. 503."
correct

"The Pz. IV '1251' is from Pz.Rgt. 24, 24. Pz.Div., probably the only unit with 4 digited Pz. IV."
An alternate view of this tank is in Chris Bishop's Waffen-SS Divisions states that this was in the Cherkassy Pocket, January 1944. But the wiki commons photo is December 1943, an earlier photo.

"The Pz. IV '802' is from Pz.Rgt. 3, 2. Pz.Div., while on training in Northern France, Spring 1944."
right on that one

It was also stated so in a film I watched a while ago.
Certainly NOT, it belonged to SS-Panzerjäger-Abteilung 1 LSSAH and was photographed on December 18, 1944, near Poteau. It belonged to Kampfgruppe Hansen and the photo was taken by Kriegsberichter SS-Unterscharführer Max Büschel and it was filmed by SS-Unterscharführer Schäfer. That is, if we're talking about this vehicle

Ok Ok
:| Well that means that Achtung panzer is wrong, the film was wrong and Waffen SS Divisions by Chris Bishop is wrong as well. :x bloody information.

On another front. It's too bad I can't edit earlier posts on the pages before......It won't let me! :x

Yeah well according to the reviews I found on the Chris Bishop's book, seems like a pretty poor source of informations about the subject. One advice, don't use it anymore, there's plenty of others books or websites around with better informations.
In general don't focus only on the divisionnal symbol to identify a vehicle's unit, even if it's the best way. Licence plates, turret digits' shape, camouflage, type of vehicles, there's some of the many details who can help to sort things out.

One more thing even if it belongs to the uniforms section, the death head insignia on the caps is widespread to all the SS, not just the Totenkopf. Check the collar patch on the Bosnian volunteers picture, and you will see the divisionnal symbol of the Handschar.

Thanks, too bad really, it seemed like a very good book. I'm guessing the Panzer IV '1251' isn't from Wiking

I'm positive about the '1251', it's not a Wikinger. If I'm correct, Panzer-Regiment 24 had a special organisation due to his past as a cavalry unit, so it had a third battalion (III. Abteilung, 9th to 12th Company) equipped with Pz. IV. Other Panzer-Regiment had a third battalion but most of a time equipped only with StuGs like Panzer-Regiment 2.
So the picture actually taken in Ukraine, but not in the Cherkassy sector, south of it, close to Krivoy Rog in December 43.

The SS-Pz.Rgt. 5 on the other hand had only 2 Abteilungen with a special organisation : Pz. IV in the first one, and Panthers in the second (it's the opposite in the other SS armoured units). Some Heer Regiments share this type of organisation though (Pz.Rgt. 33, Pz.Rgt. 23,...).

hi,
Surely the photo above of the LAH Motorcycle combination is a fake, its from The War & Peace show in Beltring, with British Army tents in the far background,
Its an identical style of photo to one in Tiger Panzer thread next to this thread, which claims that a reprodution Tiger (ex T54) is a real one.
