I wish I knew the total story. What I do know:
The best conclusion quoted below from Stefan De Meyer off Missing Lynx forum. I personally conclude that this is a Pz Rgt 15 Panther. Nevekin Fire Brigades-67 Pz V were recieved by Pz Rgt 15 in Dec 44.

"... this Panther is not from the bulge.
1. It is for sure not LAH
2. I do not recognize this landscape as belonging to our Ardennes despite many visits to that region
3. I don't know any participating Panzerunit from the bulge that used this kind of turret digits
4. I do not know why some authors caption this vehicle as being in the Ardennes? Because they see snow? Because there are some mountains? I find it unbelievable how many wrong captions are given in books by many professional specialist authors.

Personally I would rather place this tank in Alsace, Lorraine or the Saar."

THere are many links on this Panther. Many have it IDed as SS Pz Rgt 1, which is not the case, despite the number on the mantlet.

Arthur, I'm asking about the very odd wheels that the tank has not who owned it.

Alan,

My apologies for misreading the question,

I believe the one rubber rim wheel is just a replacement wheel installed at the unit level, cannibalized off another Panther. Possibly 225 ran over a mine. My best guess. A strange one-off variation considering if there was one odd wheel, it would be a rear steel wheel on an all rubber rim set.

More on the steel wheels, from the net:

On Panthers, steel wheels were used only briefly in September, 1944, for a test batch, but it was found that the closely spaced steel wheels frequently broke the hollow guide teeth on the Panther tracks, and the use of steel wheels was stopped pending the design of a new double link track with a single solid center guide on alternate links (which never happened, owing to the war situation). Some leftover steel wheels were incorporated on the last station of a few late war Panthers for reasons unknown, but steel wheels would not have been in the ordinary supply line, and it's hard to see where a Panther unit in the field would have gotten any
