Re: german crane, wrecker, field modifications
Hello all
I found on E-bay a other pic of the mysterie 3 axle crane!
The pictures I found about this crane are all in context with the "Legion Condor"
Is this a special serial for this unit or is it a bigger serie for the RW-Wehrmacht?
Is here more info?
best regards
Henning
ps. whats your opinion? The crane pics about the Legion Copndor shows allways the same crane or different?

Hi Henning,
sorry for the late answer. I spent my time with other things.
To Your really very interesting question: on Hennings site there is some information about this truck: a so called Triebwerkkraftwagen (Kfz. 75) on the chassis of the "mittlerer geländegängiger LKW". This type is listed under the trucks of Henschel type 33 and Krupp type L 3 H 63. Under Krupp L 3 H 63 is shown a pic of this truck with the license plate WL= Luftwaffe. That indicates, that it was a vehicle of the Luftwaffe for changing the engines of airplanes, also used in the Legion Condor.

Re: german crane, wrecker, field modifications
Hi all,
here a pic of a light Bilstein crane on a heavy semi-track tractor Sd. Kfz. 9. It´s neither the type Sd.Kfz. 9/1 with a 6-ton crane, nor the type Sd-Kfz. 9/2 with a 10-ton crane. So it could be a field modification. Source of the pic: an expired ebay auction.

Re: german crane, wrecker, field modifications
Hi Henning,
it is a captured one. It must be one of the 3-ton 6x4 trucks fitted with a Gantry Recovery body. Here a pic of such a truck, here a Guy type FBAX with the framework gantry and lifting tackle of the 3-ton Gantry (source of the pic: "British Military Trucks of World War Two" by Les Freathy.
