Thanks Rossmann,
That explains the skillful use of stamping techniques.

Re: Motorcycles of Wehrmacht
Her are two 'bikes in German use, cropped from the same photo. I think they are British, at least one an Ariel, but what model. All of the chrome points towards commandeered civilian machines.
Thanks for looking,
Kerry.

Hi Kerry
The Areial is a "Red Hunter" but I am not sure which model. As for the other one I am clueless.

Re: Motorcycles of Wehrmacht
Thank you Clive, that has cleared one up. They both look as if they have just been taken into military use. I am sure the genuine owners would have been deeply upset, nice looking 'bikes!

Re: Motorcycles of Wehrmacht
Kerry - if the Ariel pic was actually SMALLER the resolution MIGHT allow you to make out what's written on the timing cover! IIRC It'll say VH 350 or VH 500...
As for the other...look closely at the "relections" in the chrome panel of the tank...they're not, you can clearly see the "A.J.S" once you know to look for it!

Twenty years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no Cash, no Hope and no Jobs....

I do not suppose that this made it to front-line use, but a quirky three seater Bohmerland in German custody.
