Hi Sturm 78,
You are right. It is a Moto-Guzzi motorcycle. The exact model: GT 17.

BMW R4 (possibly a Series 1). "... most of the 15,295 R4s produced between 1932 and 1937 ended up in military or police use."
See The Complete Book of BMW Motorcycles: Every Model Since 1923, page 41.

The exhaust seems to be situated in a higher position than usual for the R4....
Here, another image of a R4 for comparing

Re: ► Photothread: Motorcycles of Wehrmacht
Hi,
Do not know which of the two exhaust/silencer designs is the production version, but the lower version does allow for a pannier bag to be fitted at the rear wheel position, something not possible with the higher version. Also the passengers foot position would be a lot more comfortable with the lower silencer version..
An easy modification from one to the other for any mechanic.
cheers

Hi,
Will not do the leather of his boot any good being against the hot exhaust pipe all the time, but it would allow for deeper wading when crossing water for instance, a bit like the BMW R75 and the Zundapp KS 75 with their high up exhaust silencer boxes.
cheers

Re: ► Photothread: Motorcycles of Wehrmacht
Hi Sturm 78,
a very interesting question. The BMW R 4 motorcycles are clear. But the motorcycle in the middle is difficult to ID.
There is another possible motorcycle than the type R 62: the type R 52.
Both types had an identical construction except of the engines and the appropriate attachment parts.
The BMW R 52 had an engine with 486 ccm, the BMW R 62 an engine with 745 ccm.
Production figures: R 52 = 4.377 pieces, R 62 = 4.355 pieces.
Best regards
Bert
