A captured example in Tunisia- can anyone identify the German markings?

there is a number on the turret that looks like white-outline-only "11"

digit style matches Pz.II "14" from Panzer Abteilung 190 in Tunisia in November 1942. Same turret bin, too!

Thanks - I presume then that the yellow circle marking is US Army? I was thinking it was an unknown German unit marking! Why they never over painted the German cross is strange! But on the other hand it may have been used for armour recognition purposes.

Hello to all :D; a little more......................

Early versions in Poland - Sep 1939!

With a completely new torsion bar suspension with four road wheels, the Pz Kw II Ausf. D was developed as a cavalry tank for use in the pursuit and reconnaissance roles. Only the turret was the same as the Ausf. C model, with a new hull and superstructure design and the use of a Maybach HL62TRM engine driving a seven-gear transmission (plus reverse). The design was shorter (4.65 m) but wider (2.3 m) and taller (2.06 m) than the Ausf. C. Speed was increased to 55 km/h. During the Polish Campaign, this tank was in use in the Leichte Divisions only .

The first I thought after seeing this was the Panzer I command tank, they had a similar extension (cupola?)

I have several photos of this variant. It seems to be an observation cuppola to provide the tank commander with a better view and more protection when observing. Since it is not mentioned as a regular variant in any of my books about Pz II, it must be a field modification. I don't know if it is a command tank though. In that case, shouldn't there be more antennas?
