Re: ► Photothread: Umbauwagen
HI Max, hi Kerry,
here a pic of a similar Umbauwagen of Horch type 830. Here You can see, that it is a vehicle with a tarpaulin and not with a closed bodywork, which was used for the ambulances (source of the pic: "Personenkraftwagen der Wehrmacht" by Reinhard Frank).
Best regards
Bert

Re: ► Photothread: Umbauwagen
Hi Bert and Kerry,
I concede based on your research that the umbau I posted is not likely an ambulance. The presence of the lady in white uniform suggested to me at the time a connection to a medical unit of some sort.

Hi Max,
no problem. I could find a good pic of a Horch 830 BL ambulance. Interesting, that the red crosses on the white circles of the vehicle on Holgers site were overpainted. (source of the pic: "100 Jahre Sanitäts- und Krankenfahrzeuge" by Udo Paulitz).
Best regards

Thanks for the fine photo, Bert.
I recently came across this shot that appears to show the interior of one of these Horch umbaus on the right.

Hi Max,
thank You very much for posting this pic with two ambulances. Very interesting, indeed. Can You say, what type of ambulance is to see on the left?
Best regards

Hi,
here another pic of an Umbauwagen. I´m not sure, but it could be a Chevrolet model 1939 (source of the pic: an expired ebay auction).

Hi Sturm,
That's great. Thanks for posting. They are either V8-G81A or G92A Specials depending on the engine (I would assume the more powerful G81). Holger has a brief write up on these conversions at http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Homepage_ ... 8_g81.html
