Hello all,
I spotted this on eBay.de and had never seen one before. The back of the photo shows it was printed in 1975, but I suspect it was taken from a negative, clearly not a scan of a print. Has anyone seen a similar vehicle photo? Also, where would the base vehicle have been acquired, were these CMP Fords supplied to the USSR under Lend Lease? Is it an 8cwt or 15, it is hard to tell, and what might its Kfz identity be?
Anyway, an interesting photo,
Kerry.
Hi Kerry,
This is Kfz 15 on Ford CMP F15A 4x2 Cab 11 chassis, a quantity of these were captured in Greece. The body was made upon standartized drawings by Pionier Bat. 659 (mot.):

Talking about Lend-Lease CMPs, AFAIK in the USSR was shipped only a small quantity of Chevrolet C60L Cab 13 LWB 3-tonners.

Hi ilfil,
Many thanks for the information, it is fascinating that these were made in (presumably small) quantity by a single unit.
Best regards,
Kerry.

Hi Kerry,
Most probably these weren't made in the unit workshop(s), according to Bart Vanderveen (in 'Wheels & Tracks' 30) the bodies were made in more serious facilities, again: most probably.

I cannot comment this but it looks there was at least one (central?) workshop responsible for those CMPs repairs, at least this picture makes me think so:

I cannot see on it any other vehicles but CMPs, note all 3 on the front are F15A 4x2 trucks and two of them are fitted with new German kübel bodies and WH number plates already.

Cheers!

Hi all,

here another source, that these Fords CMP F15A 4x2 were captured in Greece and 15 of them were made with bodies upon standartized drawings by Pionier Bat. 659 (mot.). These vehicles were sent to Russia to Heeres-Pionier-Batallion 666. Here another pic of these vehicles of Heeres-Pionier-Batallion 666 (source of the information and the pic: Waffen-Arsenal Band 123 "Ford im Kriege" by Reinhard Frank).

Best regards

Bert

Thanks again ilfil, I had misunderstood your posting. It is the drawings which were made by the Pioneer unit and the bodies were made elsewhere, following these drawings. Bert, thank you for the additional material.
Fascinating.
Cheers,
Kerry.

Here's an interesting Holzgas umbau. I think it started life as a '38 Packard.

Hi Armin,
I can't see anything umbau in this one? Just an ordinary early production Bedford OXD with Notek as the only German upgrade.
Cheers!

Hi ilfil
thank you for the correction. For me it looked like a Umbau vehicle.
You see that I don't know much about softskins and even less about non German vehicles.

Regards
Armin
