Re: Photothread: Tractors of the Axis
You are most welcome.
Here is a ChTZ S-65 towing a wagon with presumably a water tank.

Re: Photothread: Tractors of the Axis
The first picture contains two Chenard & Walcker FAR tractors. It isn't clear if these are surrendering French units or newly acquired German ones. There is an organizational symbol visible but I don't know who it belongs to. The second picture shows a vehicle I am struggling to remember.

Re: Photothread: Tractors of the Axis
Looks like a Faun; Somewhat similar to this L 335 D 63 from IIRC Autotypenbuch 1937.Luftflotte2 wrote:The second picture shows a vehicle I am struggling to remember.

Re: Photothread: Tractors of the Axis
I vote for FAUN but can't say for sure the model on which chassis the tractor is based. Could be 560 or 600.Luftflotte2 wrote:The second picture shows a vehicle I am struggling to remember.

Re: Photothread: Tractors of the Axis
Hi Luftflotte 2, hi uncle, hi Markus, hi ilfil,
for me it is a Faun, too. I think the type L 335 is too small, and the type 600 too heavy. My assumption: the type L 560. There was a special tractor type with the designation Z 566. That could also be a possibility. Here a pic of this tractor out of the booklet "Taschenbuch deutscher Zugmaschinenbau" by Wolfgang H. Gebhardt.
Best regards
Bert

Re: Photothread: Tractors of the Axis
Some of the ID problem seems to arise from the fact that the Faun is a Sattelzugmaschine semi tractor and not a lorry or a Zugmaschine ballast tractor; Couldn't find a match in either Gebhardt's lorry or tractor books, just as I e.g. can't find some known Kaelble Sattelzugmaschine models in them.

The cab and bonnet look very similar to the Faun LK 5 railway crane Dirk posted here: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... &start=285:

Re: Photothread: Tractors of the Axis
Are you sure your pic is not a Faun? I think the closest match seems to be Faun.uncle wrote:here Bussing - there is a match
For the sake of argument, I had thought of the Vomag Dieselschlepper (postwar picture?). Both have similar engine compartments. However, it is clear the cabs are different.
