What is that hole behind that Jagdpanzer used for?

Do you mean the circular hatch in the rear plate of the Elefant ? If so the small one is for ammunition, the larger for general access for maintenance.

This photo is supposed to show a crew of schwere Panzerjägerabteilung 653 with their Elefant on the retrograde offensive near Karatschew after the battle of Orel at the end of July 1943.
