► 75 mm anti-tank gun on 5 tons Büssing-NAG L 4

Post by SIS 5 » 03 Aug 2014, 10:27

Hi,

here a pic of a special vehicle of the Panzerjägers developed by Rheinmetall Borsig: a selfpropelled 75 mm AT gun on a medium semi-track tractor for 5 tons Büssing-NAG L 4. Only three of these vehicles were built. And only one of them was tested in Northern Africa. (Source of the pic: an expired ebay auction, source of the information: Waffen-Arsenal Special Band 39: "Die Zugkraftwagen der dejutschen Wehrmacht" by Walter E. Seifert

Hello,

The turret resembles that of T-34-76 early versions.
Still, it looks like a mockup, because it is much smaller than the original turret (the soldier sitting in this turret proves this).
So, my version is that this halftrack was used as a training vehilce to imitate Soviet T-34 tank.

A field conversion armored car destroyed by Americans forces during the liberation of the French city of Orleans in August 1944.

The turret with a round smaller one on top of it ressembles the one of the French Panhard 178.
