Hi,

here another graffiti:
"Suppenschmiede - Gruss u. Co." - "Forge of soups Gruss and Company"
Maybe the surname of the cook was "Gruss".
Source of the pic: ebay

Regards

Bert

Hi Max,

Yes, I think so, too.
Here something matching with the kitchen:
"Friß das Essen oder den Koch," - "Scoff the meal or the cook,"
"ein Schlangenfraß bleibt es doch!" - "nevertheless it remains a muck of snakes!"
I hope my translation is not too bad.

Best regards

Bert

Hi Bert,
I understand "Barracks Humor" but I don't think that would be a very good advertisement for a restaurant! :D
Cheers,
Max

Hi Bert,
Thsnks. That's a great pic. If that was a reference to Fall Blau, I fear they got more than they bargained for.
Cheers,
Max

Hi Max,

thank You for the reply, but I don´t think that it was a reference to Fall Blau. This sentence has more the meaning "we are going somewhere (and we don´t know where)".
Here another graffiti on a captured Renault truck after the campaign in France trying to use some French words:
"Chalz (Charles) leb wohl!" - "Charles farewell!"
"Heim ins Reich" - "Back home into the Empire"
"Musje (monsieur) adé!" - "Monsieur (my lord) goodbye!"

Hi Bert,
That's an interesting Renault. What do you think is it's purpose with all those vent slots?
Cheers,
Max

Hi Max, hi uncle,

You are totally right, uncle, that is a Renault type AGC 3 RV (le Ravitaillement en Viande - meat supply), a special vehicle of the French army for the transport of meat. Here another pic of this vehicle (source: "L'automobile sous l'uniforme" by Francois Vauvillier).
A great pic, uncle, thanks for posting!

Best regards

Bert

Hi,

here another graffiti, a Mickey Mouse, on the door of an Opel truck (source: https.reibert.info). Interesting, that a famous American figure was painted on a German truck.

Hi,

here a new graffiti after a long break; from the left to the right:
"Pass up (Pass auf) John Bull" - "Watch out John Bull"
(John Bull is a national personification of England)
"Gott strafe England" - "God punish England"
"Chamberlain, kauf Dir einen neuen." - "Chamberlain, buy a new one (umbrella)"
"Paris - London"
"Churchill, tret ab!" - "Churchill, resign!"
"Churchill, der Lügner" - "Churchill the liar"
Source of the pic: ebay.
