Re: Graffiti on vehicles of the Wehrmacht
Hi Markus,
thanks for posting these interesting pics, especially the first one (wird repariert = it will be repaired) and the pic with the Opel "Blitz": the graffiti with the cock, the heraldic animal of France (RF = Republique Francaise), hunted by the eagle, the German heraldic animal.
Here another pic of a vehicle (ambulance) with the request not to cannibalize this vehicle ("Nicht ausschlachten! Wird abgeholt!" - "Don´t cannibalize! It will be towed away!").But interesting, that the soldiers changed this ambulance into a latrine (toilet) with some advices (from the left to the right):
"Hier kann man, wenn man muß" - "Here You can, if You must"; "Wer Ordnung liebt im Leben, der scheißt ins Haus und nicht daneben" - "Who loves order in the life, has a shit in the house and not beside!"; "Hier in diesem Hause, wo kein Vöglein singt, läßt der Arsch was fallen, was gottserbärmlich stinkt." - "Here in this house, where no bird is singing, the ass lets go of something, that´s stinking goddamnedly."
Best regards
Bert

Re: Graffiti on vehicles of the Wehrmacht
Hi Slava,
thank You very much for posting these interesting pics, especially the first one with a French woman.
Here another graffiti, this time on an pontoon:
"Die Heimat schrieb sich die Arme lahm, doch Post kam bei uns nur selten an."
"The home was writing until the arms became lame, but the post arrived us only very rarely."
Best regards
Bert

Hi Slava,
thanks again for this pic with an interesting graffiti on a truck with a field kitchen with the subject "meals":
"Magenfahrplatz" - "traveling place of stomache"
"Mitropa-Express" - the name of an express train with dining and sleeping cars (Mitropa was a catering company best known for managing dining and sleeping cars of the German railways)
"England will bei uns frühstücken" - "England wants to have a breakfast with us".
Best regards
Bert

Re: Graffiti on vehicles of the Wehrmacht
Hi Slava,
thanks again for the new pics. I couldn´t translate it, because I was a few days in Hamburg. But here the translation and comments:
first pic: it is not a graffiti, but a notification of the organisation Kraft durch Freude (Strength through Joy, abbreviated KdF) and it was a large state-operated leisure organization in Nazi Germany. It was a part of the German Labour Front (Deutsche Arbeitsfront, DAF), the national German labour organization at that time. Set up as a tool to promote the advantages of National Socialism to the people, it soon became the world's largest tourism operator of the 1930s. Now to the text:
"Strength through Joy: out of Berlin in Johann-Georgenstadt" (a small town in the mountains of the Erzgebirge, a range of mountains on the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. Also called the Ore Mountains).
On the cabin: "Licensed long-distance transport of goods".
Second pic: "Von Raon l´Etapè in die Heimat! Aus Gefangenschaft zurück." "From Laon l´Etapè (a village in France between Straßbourg and Èpinal, also called the gate to the Vosges) to the home land! Back from the captivity."
And the next from me:
"Nach Hause" - "Home!"
Regards
Bert

Hi,
here the next graffiti on a trailer with field kitchens after the campaign in Poland I think:
in the front: "Sieg Heil!" - "Hail victory!"
on the side: "Im Osten sind sie geschlagen, es lebe unser Küchenwagen"
"They are beaten in the East, long live our kitchen vehicle!"
Source of the pic: an expired ebay auction.
