Finally I will perhaps stop fllooding this thread with German wrecks of 1940. Let's add 2 Panzer I photos (9. Pz) from Akira Takiguchi and 2 Panzer IVs from Jentz's book about Fall Gelb. The first one has been knocked out on June 5 by a French 47mm SA37 AT gun and the second one by direct shot from a French field gun.

David

Several French tanks from 1940. To begin with, the B1bis 'Corse' n°214 from 15e BCC.
From left to right = radio operator Caporal Deschamps, driver Sergent Jannin, Lieutenant Pagnon, Chasseur Huin showing a non penetrating impact on their tank after the combats in Ham on May 19. ["Chars B au combat - Hommes et matériels du 15e BCC" (Stéphane Bonnaud)].

B1bis 'Aisne' from 41e BCC destroyed by 8.8cm / 10.5cm guns at Pogny-sur-Marne on June 12, 1940.
------------------------------
On June 11, the 41e BCC has only 15 fully operational tanks and 12 damaged ones, 3 of them having to be towed (27 tanks whereas the theoretical strength is 31+3 tanks).
The battalion is then split into 3 detachments:
• GASC detachment with 1 operational tank ("Villers-Marmery") and the 12 already damaged ones
• DELEPIERRE detachment with the HQ and the logistics
• CORNET detachment with 14 operational tanks organized in 2 groups of 7 tanks – one group commanded by Capitaine Billotte (the famous tank commander from Stonne) and one group led by Lieutenant Fajeau.
The CORNET detachment disappears completely on June 12 during a counter-attack. The B1bis 'Eure' (the famous tank of Stonne) has been scuttled on June 14 in Possesse. I have seen several photos of the tank blown away, the turret standing against a wall.
The GASC detachment moves to Pogny-sur-Marne on June 12. A skirmish leads to the retreat of German reconnaissance elements. The detachment crosses the Marne River and the tanks are grouped at Togny-aux-Boeufs. General de Lattre (14e DI) requisitioned the B1bis tanks and dispersed them to defend various bridges on the Marne River between La-Chaussée-sur-Marne and Coolus until June 14.
The Germans renewed their attack to cross the Marne River at Pogny, where a very violent battle took place between French tanks ("Aisne" and "Beni-Snassen" B1bis tanks) and German tanks. The bridge is quickly blocked by 5 German tank wrecks (The "Beni-Snassen" destroyed 2 tanks with the 47mm SA35 gun and 2 additional tanks with the 75mm SA35 gun). Nonetheless, the 2 French heavy tanks are neutralized by the fire of heavy AA/field guns.
Regards,
David

Thank you.Hello David,
There were only 6 operational 'Bufla' vehicles issued to 1. schwere Kompanie/Panzer-Jäger-Abteilung in France in 1940 (anti-fortification role initially and also anti-tank role). They were used along 1.PzD and 2.PzD. At least 2-3 vehicles were lost in France, including 1 destroyed on May 14, in Chémery (just a bit south of Sedan), apparenlty by the Luftwaffe.
Regards,
David
Excellent narrative btw.

More photos from "La bataille au sud d'Amiens, 20 mai – 8 juin 1940" (Pierre Vasselle). The 1st edition (1948) has no photos but I have also a second edition dated 1975 IIRC with addition of photos taken on the battlefield.
All photos in this post are form this book except the halftrack one. The book displays the same vehicle but I have found a series of photos on ebay displaying it better with its 8.8cm FlaK.
1. German armored car (and older French Somua S35 wreck, probably not related to the June combats since no Somua S35 unit was involved) destroyed near Saint-Fuscien - south of Amiens (June 5, 1940).
David
Although apparently in German service* the armored car appears to be a Daimler Dingo.
*Looks like a balkankruez on the hull.
Thanks for all the great pics from the Battle of France!
1. Kompanie, (schwere) Panzerjägerabteilung 8 attached to 1. Panzerdivision.David W wrote:David.
Do you know with which Abteilung the 8.8cm FlaK (Sfl) auf Zugkraftwagen 12t (Sd.Kfz. 8) was serving?
It would appear that the company was organized according to KSTN 1146 of 1. february 1940 which has six 88mm SP guns. It would seem that the 1. Kompanie was detached from 8 Panzerjägerabteilung and equipped with these 88mm SP guns some time before May 1940. It pops up again in June 1941 as an independent Heeres-truppe company attached to 39. Armeekorps. At some point it was redesignated schwere Panzerjäger Kompanie 601 and attached to PzJgAbt 559 as the 3. Kompanie still having 4 vehicles + one spare. These appears to have been gone by the summer of 1943, possibly in the winter 1942/43.
