hmm, by the number of KV-1 pics, were they that common? I thought that they were rather rarely used by the Germans.

@pkenny:

they were rare, so it's a good object to take a picture from this beast
remember, it was bigger and heavier than anything else the wehrmacht had,
and it's was nearly indestructable for german tanks

The use of Captured Russian Vehicles by the SS Ordnungspolizei.

As of March 2, 1944, the 5th Police Armored Co. had 2 platoons of 5 T-34 tanks. These vehicles saw service in the Ukraine and starting in the summer of 1944 in Italy.

At least one BT-7 served with the 8th Police Armored Co. This Company served in Army Group North from November 1943 until the fall of 1944.

At least one T-34 and possibly at least one T-26 served with the 9th Police Armored Company and saw service with Army Group Center.

The 3rd Platoon of the 10th Armored Police Company was equipped with T-26 tanks. They saw service with Army Group South until late summer 1944 when it was ordered to Vienna for rest and refitting. The Russian tanks in service were put out of action by friendly fire.

The 12th Reinforced Police Armored Company utilized several Russian vehicles including the T-34, T-60, T-70 and BA-10 vehicles as well as one T-26.

Did the Americans or British fight against any German captured Russian tanks? I have heard of some shermans going against a T34. How about a Bt series tank? (CCIV has one in the game against Americans)

while I was perusing the Achtung Panzer forum i saw a reference to a T-34 in Normandy. Dont have any info on who what, when etc. though.

NOte apparently replaced the MA with a short barrelled 75mm gun.

Actually i've been trying to find out more about this unit Pz Abt zbv 66 they were apparently raized for the assualt on Malta, initially based in Italy they ended up remaining there when the Operation against Malta was cancelled, Aparently they were equipped with T-34's,KvI's & KvII's, but until i can track down a definative info source on this unit i can not say for certian if Shermans fought against this unit
