Re: ► Photothread: Captured Russian Vehicles in German Service
Could someone tell me, what type is the truck in Luftflotte2's last post please?
Thanks,
Kerry.
Thanks,
Kerry.
Re: ► Photothread: Captured Russian Vehicles in German Service
Hi Kerry,
Yes, somebody can.
This is a van on ZiS-12 chassis. ZiS-12 was basically ZiS-5 with stretched chassis and increased wheelbase, produced in small quantities mostly for export. There were several coachbuilder factories back then in that country, so it is absolutely impossible to tell the manufacturer of the body. It could be even German or Finnish, or else.
HTH
Cheers!

Hi ilfil,
Thank you, I had never come across the ZiS 12, so a new one for me. I guess it is what could be described as a light truck or panel van.
Cheers,
Kerry.

You're always welcome, Kerry.
Talking about the military use of this LWB chassis, ZiS-12 was used as AA guns and searchlights carrier, as seen here:

Re: ► Photothread: Captured Russian Vehicles in German Service
ilfil,
It is curious, I have a photo of a Zis 14, but I had not realised that the 12 and 14 were, to all intents and purposes, the same truck.
Thanks again for widening my knowledge, also thanks to Luftflotte2 for the extra information.
