It's a shame that most photos have to be defaced.

When I find any good photos I'd rather share them in original condition than sell them! Still I suppose we would not see so many if people were not trying to give up their day job by selling on eBay!!!!

According to Waffen und Geheimwaffen des deutschen Heeres 1933 - 1945, Band 2 by Fritz Hahn the number of captured AFVs (Panzer & Spähwagen) in the East was
14 959 by 10. 3. 1942.
19 742 by 31. 8. 1942,
26 430 by 31. 12. 1943 and
26 508 by 30. 9. 1944,
although I'd be surprised if more than a small percentage of these was ever put back to service use.

Thanks 'Peeved'; good information. I gather that with the captured French gear only about 1/3 was eventually converted for use later in the war although more of that percentage was infact used earlier as training tanks etc and alot used as tractors or munitions haulers while a small percentage was sold off to allies. Reportedly alot more of the captured French artillery was used extensively.

When it came to Soviet artillery it seems like the % used was more like 1/4 or less. Even a small % of the above figures suggests 3000-4000 chassie!
