Hi Strum,

thank You very much for this excellent pic of this Saurer truck. To the identification:
could it be, that the type 4 BTDv had 8 nuts and bolts on the wheel, whereas the type 5 BTDv had 10? Or doesn´t this matter? Could it be the type 4 BDTv here?
Here a pic of the type 5 BDTv for comparing.

Best regards

Bert

Hi Sturm 78,

sorry for my late answer. I think that this is a special field modification to improve the reception of the radio. Here a pic of another field modification on a truck (Borgward) and also on a captured vehicle (Citroen) (source of the pics: expired ebay auctions).

Best regards

This Borgward appears to have an electrically-heated glass panel attached to the windscreen to give the driver a clear view in damp weather. Is this unusual?

Hi John,
I wouldn't say it is unusual. I'm in doubt it is a heater, looks more like simple anti-frost device. However, it is a common sight on the windshield driver's pane on many winter pictures from Russia.
Cheers!

I recall earlier the Ebay seller of the same picture described it "Ford Billing".

Hi Max,

thanks a lot for posting this very interesting pic.
Here another interesting pic I think. It is a "mittlerer Sprühkraftwagen" (middle spraying vehicle for liquid poison gas) (Sd. Kfz. 11/3). production model 1939 with a closed driver’s cab.

Best regards
