That's fine but what vehicle is it ? Kfz 12 is just the use to which it is being put.

Hi Bert,
The annotation has it as a Kfz23, a telephone communication car. It is a conversion based on a Morris-Commercial chassis and front end,
Kerry.

Lennard,

The type 40 is the Le einheids Pkw
type 901 a miltelre einheids Pkw
type 108 a schwere einheids Pkw

As far as I know the 901 was build only by Horch but the type 40 by more than one producers
Horch 40 Kfz 15.jpg
a type 40 from a old Ebay selling

Hope this explains it .

How can that be a Kfz 23, the 23 was a telephone exchange vehicle. That looks more like a staff car.

Hi Bert (Rocketman)

Sorry you have this completely wrong, there are Type 40's for the lEpkw, mEpkw and sEpkw vehicles, it only means the revised versions of each of those three vehicle types that came into use in 1940/41, Before that date there were different designations for each of these three vehicle types.

For the lEpkw for example, from 1936 to later 1940 there were the lEpkw Stoewer R180s, R200s,the lEpkw Hanomag Type 20B and the lEpkw BMW 325, and then later only the Stoewer Typ 40 from late 1940 to early 1944.

The mEpkw and sEpkw were similar but with different individual designations, but the later ones are both Typ 40's.

cheers lennard
