Re: ► Soft Skinned Vehicles
I suppose the first photo could be an Opel Blitz, but front bumper is puzzling me.
The second photo, I searched about it, the manufacturer is Skoda, but still didn't find the model.
Maybe a Skoda 606 D, a 706, a 306 or a 304 from the last series?
Regards
Rui

Re: ► Soft Skinned Vehicles
Hi Rui,
to Your questions:
You are right, that´s not a normal bumper of an Opel Blitz truck. But there were a few with these additional bumpers. They were field modifications. Here two pics (source: ebay).
The Skoda truck is for me the type 306 D. The types 606 (6,5 ons) and 706 (7 tons) are too heavy. Please, have a look on Holger´s site (www.kfzderwehrmacht.de).
Regards
Bert

That site, was one of my sources to try to identify the Skoda truck, unfortunately the photo of the 606 D variant there, don't allow to compare.
The 306 variant was a close possibility to me, there was also a different cab version on the last series of the 304 variant, and in the Holger site, there is only a photo of an early series of the 304.

Rui

Re: ► Soft Skinned Vehicles
Rocketman Bert,
They are both British. The front vehicle is a Leyland, a Cub I believe, and the rearward lorry is an Albion BY1 or BY3. One difference between the BY1and BY3 is that the BY3 had a full width windscreen, the BY1 had no screen. However the grab-rail in front of the steering wheel on your photo suggests a BY1 with a German-fitted windscreen.

Kerry.

Hi George,
Interesting post. That Klöckner-Deutz looks like the 4x4 Type A 3000, not seen that often.

I normally don't study the contribute of Germany on the Spain Civil War. Mea Culpa

They wear the early style black beret w/ Totenkopf of the Panzermann.
