@ Panzermeyer
Good point! having a second look to the pic it seems that the man inside the halftrack is wearing a german cap. I can ever guess by the face of british soldiers.

Hi there,

Going by my research, the plate is probably 79 785

It's hard to see on this shot, but other sdkfz 6-2s from the LAH at this time have the follwing numbers;

From "Gefährten unserer Jugend", the internet and Gordan Williamson, Handbook of the Waffenn SS

79786
79788
79791
79794
79798
79799

cheers,
steve

Thanx Nacho,

SS 501157 - Normandy 44 - A very high license number?

The source of this picture " Album mémorial-Normandie 1944-Heimdal" that illustrates a convoy of Villers Bocage POWs, may be a s.SS-Pz.abt.101 Horch 830 or a polizeï Kompanie vehicle.

SS 89027 - 3.SS-Totenkopf Reiterstandarte - Horch830 or mercedes?

I guess Himmler had many cars...

and the SS-3 Mercedes for Heydrich

@ Bayerlein:
you have given birth to a monster, I suggest we tame it before it grows more!!

I volunteer to arrange the index, there are already several plates repeated in the thread, besides I have picture hosting) but can not automatically upload, wil have to click the link...

I can do it as suggested, by ascending number, and also, another option, would be by unit, but this will leave out some unidentified unit vehicles
I have found about half a dozen more, a coupel them very interesting..!!! (will post tomorrow)

regards
