Hi Markus,

I think these are just utilities / staff cars, isn't the heavy utility the big square militarised looking one with the upright grille?

Hi Sean,

Apparently depends on the model; Going by The Observer's Fighting Vehicles Directory, World War II by Bart H. Vanderveen, of the Humbers the F.W.D. based 4x4 Heavy Utility was of the boxy persuasion but the 4x2 was "Apart from bodywork, similar to Snipe saloon and tourer, with ifs and extra wide mudguards."

Markus

Thanks Markus, I'd always thought just the 4x4 was the 'heavy'.

Hi Carius, hi Alan,

thank You very much, Carius, for posting so many and mostly very, very interesting pics. It´s always a pleasure to open the different files and to see Your new pics. Thanks a lot.

To the last pic of a truck: it´s an Einheitsdiesel, built by several firms: MAN, Büssing-NAG, Magirus, Henschel, Borgward, Krupp and Faun. The truck is a Kfz. 63 (Meßstellen- und Gerätekraftwagen). Sorry, I cannot translate it. The pic is out of the booklet Waffen-Arsenal S - 72: Der leichte geländegängige Einheits-LKW 2,5t by Walter Seifert.

Regards

Bert
