Skoda with trailer

The number plate has been deliberately obscured, none of the troops are German, more like Yugoslavian (Tito's men) but will stand corrected on this troop identification.
The first number of the obscured number plate appears to be a 5, which probably means its SS as so many of these Skoda's have 500, 501, 503 etc., as their first numbers on an SS registration.

Hi Francy:
Dodge 3 tonners ex French. I would imagine the markings are left over from the French former owners.

FEUERSCHUTZPOLIZEI Question:

Can anyone identify the Tactical Symbol on the Fire Engine below as well as the "F1" number?

Image

Original caption of the picture is: "A group from Essen at the City Hall fire on Adolf Hitler Street in Bochum, 1943."

I believe the Pumper to be a LS 25 or KS 25 type and because of the "Police" type license plate there is a good chance it is from the Essen Feuerschutzpolizei. I would still like to find out for sure and about the Tac Symbol.

Thanks for the help.

Hello

It is no tactical marking but a unit symbol. Tactical markings depict the "type" of a unit which means Panzerjägerkompanie, Schützenkompanie etc...
If the caption is correct it is the unit symbol of an firebrigade unit from Essen. The coat of arms of Essen includes a sword so this is the explanation for the sword. The crossed hammers look like the symbol for the Mining branch. I think there was a coal mine in Essen which probably means that it is the firebrigade of the mine.
Making an educated guess the "F1" is the individual vehicle number within the squad.

Hello Francy,

I´m a new member of the forum and I´ve found many of Your pics. Here a comment to the shown BMW-car. I think it´s not a BMW 321, but a BMW 326. produced from 1936 to 1941.

Regards

Bert

Your English is just fine!!!
Here is a little better shot of an AGK from the psp models site.

Hallo Bill,

it´s me again, Bert. Could it be, that the shown trucks are the type Renault AGR 2, the smaller one with 3,5 t, because the lower part of the front windscreen is smaller than at the type AGK.

Regards

Bert

Hello,

The caption of the photo below describes this symbol as the coat of arms of the 'Ruhrgau' which is presumably identical to the Gau Essen.

Romanian three-leaf clover symbol on Horchs Typ 40 Kfz 15

#299

Post by Keessmit » 18 Feb 2007, 22:22

Hello all,

Does anybody know what the symbol on the fender means?

These photo’s were posted on a Romanian forum years ago, but questions about the meaning of the three-leaf clover symbol couldn’t be solved. It wasnn’t a Romanian mountain corps and it was also suggested that it was a personal symbol of general Gheorghe Avramescu.
The top photo was made later than October 18th 1942, when Gheorghe Avramescu was promoted Army Corps General.
The lower photo has raised my curiosity. The Horch seems new and on the background is a Tatra fuel trailer, complete with crew cabin.

Best regards
Kees
