Bill,

I suppose that Ford BB would have been a civi truck captured somewhere else in Europe rather than Russia. I don't think the Russians got round to making these slightly more advanced trucks under licence.

Hi Larry:

I stand corrected, of course. It does look rather like the "Western" AA Fords and could well have been conscripted from most any European country.

Sorry about the tardy reply. The "Newer/Better" Forum program no longer sends me emails when a thread I am posting on gets a reply. Doesn't like AOL apparently.

Does anyone know the significance of the rounal on the GAZ-AAA shown above in colour? The more I stare at it I think I can see a blue outer ring! It must be an optical illusion!

Another shot of this vehicle is on this link

I hope you enjoyed the selection. Please post more of yours thanks.

Hi Larry,

first I want to thank You very much for posting such interesting pics of Russian trucks I´m very interested in.
Hi Bob,
I agree with You. It´s really a ZIS 5, more accurately the later type ZIS 5 W, which was produced since June 1942 till 1947. During the war the Russians produced 81.646 trucks of this type.
Hi Larry, to the truck You posted 29 Feb 2008 bogged down in a crater is also a ZIS 5, not a GAZ AA.

Regards

Bert

Francy, Bert & others,

Thanks for the photo and your comments. I hope there will be more GAZ photos for this thread, as I am also interested in these basic trucks - they have a charm about them some how.
