Too Cute!!
That's Tamiya's new Me-262 2A and kettenkrad in 1/48th scale. It's in stock at Hobby Link Japan, so it should hit the US soon. Cheers, David

Hi Erich!!
Hey Man, good to write you! The instructions feature three aircraft:
1./KG 51 Rheine , September 1944
2./KG 51 "Edelweiss", Rheine October 1944
1./KG 51, Autumn 1944
Also, choice of 2 pilot figures and an integral metal weight that forms part of the nosewheel support structure. Nice kit, all the Tamiya frills. Very Best Regards, David

Swatiskas
Timo,
There are plenty of companies that produce transfers of swastikas for models, you only have to look in any decent modelling mag. for their address.
Companies have to try and maximise overseas sales, and the display of the Swastika is banned in many (Most of which underwent Nazi occupation, others have a sizeable Jewish or immigrant German population.)
BTW the use of "Combat" box art is not allowed in the UK (On the grounds that it "glorifies War".), though, to the best of my knowledge, the Swastika is only frowned upon, not officially banned.
The only people I know of who complain regularly post at CODOH, one of the most heavily censored forums I have ever come across.
Regards from the Park,
Rich

Re: Swatiskas
Someone ought to do a "Battle of Britain" set with the box-art being a 109 shooting a Spitfire down. Sales might not be so good, but it would be funny.Richard Murphy wrote:BTW the use of "Combat" box art is not allowed in the UK (On the grounds that it "glorifies War".), though, to the best of my knowledge, the Swastika is only frowned upon, not officially banned.

Boxart
Remember Guys, the object of capitalism is profit. I'd be willing to bet that in the past some company has marketed a Hellcat kit in the US with boxart showing it shooting down a Japanese Zero while at the same time marketing the Zero in Japan with boxart of it triumphing over a Hellcat. Bottom line is that it's all a game, what we want is more models!!! For myself, if Tamiya had decided it would only produce the kit without the swastika, I still would have cheered it's arrival.Someone ought to do a "Battle of Britain" set with the box-art being a 109 shooting a Spitfire down. Hell, if I feel ornery enough, I'll toss some USAF decals on it and pretend it's being test-flown after the war! Cheers, D

It's funny how little people know about WWII. If you ask the average person what country this aircraft flew for in WWII...
You'd probably get the answer "the Nazis". It's funny how people automatically equate the swastika with Nazis (there is a great deal of reason behind that, though).

Hi Erich!
Well, I suppose I'll have to hit the books, but do you know if either JG-7 or JV-44 used the 2A version of the Me-262? Tamiya issued the fighter-bomber variant (has two, intstead of four, 30mm canon in its nose). My guess is the the fighter version of the Me-262 will be released later this year. Cheers, David
