Hello!

Now present VW type 82 Kübelwagen manufactured by Italeri.
The instructions contain three options :
1 - Pz. Armee Oberkommando - Libya 1942
2 - Gren. Regiment 284 - Ukraina 1944
3 - Pz. Divison H.G. - Italy 1944

I chose the second option : Gren. Regiment 284- Ukraina 1944.

Great job there.
What's the reason for the tracks being mounted like that?

This technique of shoring the track is taught to all tankers for use if the suspension or track is damaged. I suspect if we looked at the opposite side we would find a full section of track. In the US army it is called "short tracking"for field expedient recovery of damaged vehicles.

The real problem with this is the looseness of the track as in most cases the adjustment of track tension is by moving the tension idler wheel in or out. In most cases the last wheel at the rear is the adjustment idler. Thus this technique is not good for long term movement.
