Post by richhutchings » 14 May 2003, 21:11

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any companes that make 1/35 german ships, ideally something like a small patrol boat, but even up to say, an S-Boat?

Thanks,

Rich

never heard of any model ship in such a small scale, if there are them I belive they are hiding somewhere in the back of the highest shelf of a model shop in siberia. just my thought..

yea correct...1:35 is almost the "thing" in plastic tank guys..etc...for ships? entirely diffrent...its 1:350 and some others out there...same thing goes with planes...thats why modelling can be the biggest pain in the ass sometimes :(

Well, I can think of three off-hand. Two Vietnam era boats, a PBR by Tamiya and a Navy "SEAL" boat by DML/Dragon. And a WWII German Schnelleboat. The bad news on the last is that the 1/35th S-Boat was a limited edition kit by Azimut of France, I don't think it was in production long and it listed for $500 (the crew was an extra $80-100) in the U.S. Last I looked, Great Models Webstore still listed it, but I wouldn't actually expect one to materialize.
On the other hand, Accurate Armour of Scotland sells several waterline WWII U-Boats in rein in 1/35th.
If you move to 1/72nd, you have the great Revell S-Boat and a promised 1/72nd U-Boat later this year.

Best Regards,
~D

Well
you can always order one from someone

have no idea how much is going to cost, probably a lot

more than $500

maybe you might as well just order a real destroyer, not a model, considering that kind of scale.

from Siberia with love
