V2 Rocket Railway Launch system
Hi - just sharing a drawing that I got from Karl Pawlas many years ago.
Original is located in BAMA Archives.
This is a rare drawing showing the V2 railway launch configuration.
With the V2 models coming out I decided to build the car and launcher
in 3D and print on the Form 2.
Just sharing in case anyone else wants to build.
Regards

Re: V2 Rocket Railway Launch system
The bulk of captured A4 (V2 rocket) data was sent to Fort Eutis
for analysis. You can still obtain microfilm of a lot of this data
through NASM. Most of the original material was returned to Germany
in the 1950s. Attached are a few relevant frames of film relating to the
railway launcher I scanned from film. While Microfilm isn't as sharp and
clear as the original material, it's still useful for obtaining details wrt
model building. I'll post more data relating o the railway version and
support vehicles as I assemble material for my 3D modeling/printing project....

Re: V2 Rocket Railway Launch system
Thanks for additional info on this project!
Your drawing is 2 axis flat car but on the photos from practising launching in Peneemunde there is 4 axis wagon (Koln type?) - so how it really was? 2 axis was a concept?
Another thing is "Korset" around body - was it used due to the problems with structure of missile?
Regards

Re: V2 Rocket Railway Launch system
Hi - here are some addition scans/microfilm frames showing some more of the
launcher details. I have some drawings for these parts and will post
when I get a minute and get closer to finishing up the 3D model.
The initial drawing above was only one of several very early prototype ideas. It showed however
the initial thoughts of how they might mount the launch pad to the car. Not yet sure of
what version to build. I like doing models of the early prototypes since they are seldom
thought about and I enjoy seeing what they would have looked like. I also have the A-Stoff
and B--Stoff railway wagons (and Lok) done and ready to print - the separate fueling train
would have come up alongside the launcher car for fueling (somewhat like the Russian illustrations show
although with trucks). I am thinking that I want to print the whole fueling scenario as I think it will be
something complex looking and different.

Thank You very much - this is very interesting weapon from late phase of the war.
We're looking forward to seeing renders of single vehicles and whole set

Re: V2 Rocket Railway Launch system
Some info/data pertaining to the use of the cradle/corset.
Note: there was a completely different lift bar arrangement used for moving
the production A4s off of the S-Wagons that were usually used for rail transport
of the rocket onto local land transport wagons (Vidal/Meillerwagon etc).

Hi - attached are a few screen captures of the basic ssla wagon so far - a work in progress.
I had the trucks handy from a previous project so that saved some time.
Happy New Years to all !!!

Re: V2 Rocket Railway Launch system
Hi - here is what I have figured out today for the launcher frame (railway version).
I'll to a dimensioned drawing later in case anyone want to make one.
