Maus Transportwagon in 1/35th scale - 3D printed
Hi - I have had the Dragon Model Maus kit sitting on my shelf for 20 or so years now waiting for a Schwertransportagon to put it on. I have heard many times of a rumored 1/35th scale transport wagon in plastic coming out but so far nothing has shown up in the marketplace.
There is a 1/35th resin kit from Czech out there now but I didn't care for what I saw so I decided to build one myself.

I did the 3D model 10-12 years ago based on a pullout drawing (dated 1943) that was included in a document/book I had titled (see also picture of cover): The War Time Activities of Dr. Ing H.C.F. Porsche, K.G. Reported by: Lt. Col. G.C. Reeves (Ministry of Supply) CIOS Target No: 18/73, Armoured Fighting Vehicles Combined Intelligence Objectives Sub-committee
G-2 Division, SHAEF.
I recently bought a different type of resin for my printer and needed something to experiment with so I decided to dust of the Maus transportwagon and print it. Please see attached info for a few pictures of how I decided to chop up the design fro printing as well as some WIP pictures.
Note: Original Buffer-to-Buffer length is 27,000mm so in 1/35th scale the model will be 771.4mm or just about 30".
Regards

Hi - here are some new WIP pictures of the front end of the load bed. This part took about 15hours to print and used about 90ml of resin (or about $13.50). I called this part the "shard" (ha ha) as it was printed more vertical than usual. I could have saved some build time by lowering he angle however it would have used more resin for supports. As is, with the part printed more vertical, there were hardly any supports needed for the side and front surfaces, The whole support tree basically was removed in less than one minute. Parts shown have only been removed from supports and not yet been cleaned or sanded.

Hi - next batch of parts that printed overnight.
This pretty much completes the front third of the wagon.

Hi - getting back to finishing the initial print work for the transport wagon.
I'll update the material usage stats and exact cost posted when I get a minute but it looks like total cost right now (with a few left over parts printing now) will be around $70-$80 of resin (not bad for how big this thing is turning out to be).
The parts shown have not had any prep other than removing supports (so they still need a final rinse in alcohol and then after drying out some light sanding work).

Hi - light primer coat of paint applied to help identify where I still have some sanding and prep work to go.
I also need to add the inner axles and wheels yet. Note the size of the wagon itself as compared to the half built Maus.
Just about 31" in length.

Hello Gregg,
these are really topics that I particularly like. Already with the platform VOGELE, I had well arranged my K5.
Well done for these topics.

Hi Gregg,
You've done a great job with the transporter! I've been looking for something better than the CMK kit for a while to mate with my MAUS. It would make a great addition to my 1/35 Reichsbahn pieces. Any chance you could print me up a set of parts (for a price, obviously)?

How did the Maus load onto the wagon? Did they drive it forwards/backwards off a loading platform, along the train until it reached it's wagon that it was intended to travel on or was it loaded sideways?
