Daimler KDI Artillerie Zugmaschine WWI - 3D printed

Post by EPOCH3 » 02 Oct 2019 17:05

Hi - I decided to spend some time finishing up several vehicle related projects I had on my shelf. Attached are a few photos of my Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft KDI Artillerie Zugmaschine (WIP).

The KDI was an all-wheel drive vehicle with a 100 hp, four-cylinder engine and was the most widely produced artillery tractor of WWI.

First photos show basic "before and after" of the initial clean up as supports were removed and parts dry/test fitted. Also attached, are some photos showing some partial assembly shots as well as a few of the overall vehicle with a primer coat of metallic paint just to give it an undercoat for later color.

Building cost for the project was approximately $70 (made on my Formlabs 2 3D printer).

If anyone has any information on the actual differential/transmission/drive train components and is will to share that data with me I would very much appreciate it and update the model to be more accurate as some of the design underneath is a "best guess".

Happy modeling & best regards
Greg
