A couple quick shots to give a lil idea of how the vert fins will look.

Re: 1/72 J7W2 Shinden Kai Conversion
Shaping the lower portions of the vert fins, inspired by the tips of the main wings...gotta have design continuity. Next step, do the same to the top of the fins and maybe adjust trailing edges...

Re: 1/72 J7W2 Shinden Kai Conversion
The bottom edge of the vert fins extends roughly 9” below the wing’s underside, as it is, the tips and center of the belly are the only things that touch, as shown. Considering trimming off 3”...but I like them as they are...

Re: 1/72 J7W2 Shinden Kai Conversion
I picked up a Diels Engineering 1/24 J7W1 Free-flight Rubber-powered balsa model. Resized the plans down to 1/48 to make a profile-scale chuck-glider (hand-thrown) to get better a idea of the proper size to make the canard fore-plane and the sizing/positioning of the vert stabs...

Re: 1/72 J7W2 Shinden Kai Conversion
Some work on the second J7W2, a bubble-top conversion...
What Model would that make it? It'll also have larger Canard fore-planes... Model 22?
Enlarged & swept Canard
Shortened gear
Modified Vert Stabs & Rudders
Bubble-top...

-Delayed because I thought I had ordered .17mm diamond wire-saw, turns out I hadn't... So, it's been ordered should arrive next wk. -Tired of the tedious scoring used to carefully remove sections, figured I try something else.

.17mm Diamond wire saw arrived today. It's magical! Like a hot wire through butter!
Still need to section rear most portion of fuselage...
*Bottom pic: the removed sections have also had 2+mm strip removed from the bottom edge to bring the spine/top of the fuselage down.*

Really crankin' it out today, the major adjustments to the rear fuselage have been completed. Final shape refinement is next.
A7M2 Reppu canopy actually looks pretty good...
But I have a different canopy in mind...
