Bunker modelling

#1

Post by Domagoj » 12 Jul 2004, 13:24

Hallo, is there somebody of You, that is making models of bunkers (I mean WW2 german bunkers like Atlantic wall defence lines or Siegfried line bunkers). Please post pics of them.I'll be glad to show You my work.
It would be also great if You could give me informations about shops and manufactors that are selling such things (bunkers, diorama acessories, trees...).
In fact this could be a topic where all modelers that are making fortification and defence line dioramas could share informations, ideas and such
Regards, Domagoj

bunker modeling is one of the easy ones

all you need is some styrofoam, spackle, and sry cement

1) cut the styrofoam in shapes you need
2) cover the styrofoam edges with thin layer of spackle
3) paint it with some gray
4) why it's wet sprinkle some dry grey cement over

5) you got yourself a bunker

Yev

P.S. you cun make realistic cracks too, there fore you wll need a little bit more thicker layer of spackle

Thanks for all replyes.
Francisco, thank You for the beautifull pics of that Atlantic wall diorama. It is breathtaking and I think I'll steal a few ideas from it in my future works.
Yevg, thanks for the tip about making bunkers.Maybe I'll try to build one with this method, but I'm making them with alabaster gips (don't know how it is called in english). It is a mixture of fine white powder which is used for fixing holles etc. in the walls and fine sand.
I'll post few pics of the diorama I'm working on aldo You might seen it before on the forum

you're welcome I just was lucky to find it when I was searching for diorama sites ;)

alabaster gips is called PLASTER in english and I know what it is cause I use it too :) some come in powder and some come already prepared, and I find the second one better because it has the right consistency, perfect for making airfield runways.

I found a even better one for you if you are building in 72nd ;)

bunker

#14

Post by Domagoj » 06 Aug 2004, 22:19

Hallo,
Here is my new bunker.I made it after two year pause in modelling.
This bunker is originally placed about an km from my home in Zagreb.
I don't know what tipe it is (SK or Regelbau).I only know that it is huge.It measures 32x16x6 meters!
It is the first bunker I made for my new big diorama.I will crash my old one (showed in this topic) and I'll make a new, better and bigger thing.
The bunker is still not finished but take a look :)
