Legendary model maker dies...

Doug McHard 11/01/29-28/08/02 aged 73 died whilst at a model aeroplane show at RAF Honnington

He served in the RAF in'46 flying photo-recce Spitfires in Hong Kong. After 10years service he joined Model & Allied Publications and became Assistant Editor of Model Aircraft Magazine in1967. He later became Marketing director for Meccano/Airfix. After being made reduntant he set his own company up (Somerville Models) make up market cast cars and did work for Saab and Ford.

Within UK aircraft modelling circles he was a legend for his balsa fighter aircraft and his attributes in build and flying.
