Not legally. The rights holders will have something to say about it.

if you look hard enough you can find almost any book online. The problem is you nearly always get a little extra in the download and your computer is compromised.

Michael, there are people who prefer to own something physically. I'm totally into new technologies, but when it comes to books and movies, I need to have a physical copy.

In all my years at this game I have never ever come across a contact who did not have some form of photocopied/scanned/pdf document. Everyone claims they are against piracy/theft etc but in the real world it is endemic. It is like the prohibition laws. Fine in theory but completely impactable in real life.

Thanks you all or the answers. Me too prefer to have a physical copy of books, but I have also to deal with the fact that my home is not that big and there's stuff anywhere.
On the other hand, I have a lot of space on my pc/hard disk.
Just for that (and I yet bought before historical books on the web, Always physical copies)

An internet search in the ZVAB about "lehmann leibstandarte":
Link:https://www.zvab.com/servlet/SearchResu ... arte&sts=t
Hans
The books are not so very "rare" here in Germany, on german flea markets common stuff, between 10,- to 20,- Euro.
"Wenn alle Brüder schweigen", I own more than 10 copies from several former editions, sometimes bought for
just 5,- german Marks, these books were almost everywhere...
The well known german books about the "Leibstandarte" never more than 10,- german Marks,
in whatever condition, very often with former personal entries to some photos...

Re: The Leibstandarte Series - R Lehmann - why so expensive
I have collected 3, and 4/1, 4/2 (english version). I am missing the map books and 1 and 2. All of them were expensive, particularly 3 but I pulled the trigger at a "relatively" good time. They are stitched together LAH documents with some personal accounts. However they are disjointed, confusing at times, and a very dense read. There are also companion map books, which are rare/expensive and needed. Otherwise Google maps would have to do.
The section on LAH in the Ukraine 43-44 was a bit disappointing to me as it was too short for the high level of activity of the unit. Of the 43-45 books it looks like Lehmann did a more extensive job (volume III) than his replacement, Tiemann.
John Moore has said that their veterans' group hold the source documents so this seems to be non-public information?

Why do the "Fans" not buy the original german editions ?
They are still av. online and from other sources...
Reading about german military history is almost impossible, without the smallest idea about the german language.
Am I wrong..?
Most english language readers would already fail about the first only 500 official abbrevations , used before 1945 in Germany.
200 %.
I bet a case of nice german beer on it...

Afraid that you are wrong here, sorry. Most English speaking readers of military history books are more or less familiar with the German military terminology yet it doesn’t mean that they can read German text. Besides, all decent quality publications have a list of abbreviations and terminology used in a particular book

This dealer sells a lot of rare OOP books for reasonable prices. He is located in the UK. His shipping cost to the USA is often more then the cost of a book if you win the auction.

I won 2 auctions a few years ago for Leibstandarte volume 1 and another for volume 2 and 3 all with map books. (for some reason he auctioned v1 as a stand alone and v2 and v3 as a pair. The price I paid for all 3 volumes was around 200 dollars including shipping.
@guder if that is true about the re print that is good news for people who want the volumes at a normal price.
