There is a quite well-known film footage taken by Soviet front reporters from the first crossing of the East Prussian border in October 1944.

From the direction of the arrow on the sign pointing at the "Zollstrasse Zollamt Schirwindt", it must have been recorded west or south-west of the town, most probably along the Sodargen-Schirwindt road.

Is there any more exact knowledge of the point where the Soviet troops actually first crossed the border river?
