Questions about Jochen Peiper: Commander, Panzerregiment Leibstandarte
by Agte
1. Approximately how many pages of text (not including photos) covers the fighting from November 1943- April 1944, Normandy, and then Jan 1945-May 1945?
2. How does this compare to his books on Michael Wittmann in the writing style and research?
thanks in advance

You are speaking of Agte?

To answer your first point 33 9 x 12 inch pages in the hard cover JJF book. The first 2 pages are the order of battle for Peiper's Panzer Regiment.

17 for Normandy and 22 for the end the book is a complete fan boy book but on the plus side some good info about individuals and photos not published before.

Thanks..
So that's approx. 50 "normal" sized pages for the Ukraine, 25 for Normandy, 35 for 1945.
The Wittmann books had some useful information but have significant bad qualities- resembling "kurkowski's books which mix fact with fantasy. I was wonder if the Jochen Peiper book was more of this or it was higher quality.

I finally pulled the trigger on this book despite already having 4 books on peiper already. The photo collection of this volume stands out.
Reviewing the photo contents only:
-Over 2/3rds of the book are photos that are reproduced in a good quality and are well organized and captioned per time period.
-Slightly disappointing for me was the excessive number of photos that were portraits of random SS officers and ncos that I don't know anything about(I prefer battlefield images.) About 1/10th of the photos are of Peiper and his relations. The pre-war photographs and photographs of Feb-March 1943 are standouts.
-I was concerned that I had already seen a lot of the LAH photos before after reviewing this site. This was not the case and there wasn't much overlap.
