However, the 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian Front forces only managed to encircle the Hungarian capital by the end of December 1944. The German troops, especially the battle groups of the Panzer Divisions and Panzergrenadier Divisions fought effective delaying combat. Dr. Norbert Számvéber, author of several books and studies on the armoured warfare in the ww2, described and analysed the fierce armoured clashes in the first phase of the Budapest Operation in detail, based principally on archival sources.

Re: Armoured Warfare in the Battle for Budapest
Without any preview or table of contents,
It appears to be an expanded version of coverage featured in the much shorter "Days of Battle"
https://www.amazon.com/Days-Battle-Armo ... 559&sr=1-3
This book, according to the description is 600 pages long. This would make it as comprehensive as the highly detailed "sword behind the shield" and effectively a prequel to that book.

Re: Armoured Warfare in the Battle for Budapest
correction:
The author published a book called "Take Budapest: The struggle for Hungary 1944", which covers various actions in October and Nov 1944.
In "Days of Battle", there is a chapter that covers actions in Dec 1944. Perhaps the book integrates all these actions with the bigger picture?

Re: Armoured Warfare in the Battle for Budapest
In looking around a bit, "Take Budapest" only covers the 2nd UKF sector. This new book , if the blurb is accurate, covers both 2nd UKF and 3 UKF.

Re: Armoured Warfare in the Battle for Budapest
Yeah-the Amazon date showed early Nov but they changed it. It looks like you can order it from the publisher. Given the quality of the author's previous work, I have high hopes for this (tome?) despite the lack of information about it.
