Re: Divisional history of 20th ID in English completed
Hi Alanmccoubrey,
Because the facts remain on public display to everyone and are very telling: 2,187 thread topics on its W-SS section but only 427 on its Army section.
In other words, 80% are on the W-SS, even though it was only about 5% as large as the Army.
Books like 20th Infantry Division (mot). - Chronicle and History will help rebalance matters.
So does AHF.
Cheers,
Sid.

An off-topic post from Ken S., containing personal remarks about another poster, was removed pursuant to the Forum rules:
2. Civility
The first rule of the forum is: "No insults are tolerated (that includes serious national and religious insults)." Personal remarks in posts are strongly discouraged, and personal insults are forbidden here.
There has been a lot of stimulating information exchanged on this forum, and some excellent discussions of controversial points. With few exceptions, the participants are thoughtful, serious people. If you find an argument is flawed, point out the flaws and the evidence to the contrary, and leave it at that. There is no need to resort to insults which do not prove your point. If you disagree with a contributor, please use your energy to show why his argument is mistaken. This will improve both the tone and quality of our discussions.
National and religious insults are forbidden by this first rule of the forum, and the third rule of the forum prohibits racist remarks and slang expressions for ethnic, national, religious or racial groups. Posts containing insulting generalizations about nationalities, ethnic groups, societies or religious groups and practices are not permitted here. This includes remarks about collective responsibility.
Nonconforming posts are subject to deletion without warning. Serious breaches of these rules are punishable by banning the poster.

Please, everyone try to get back on the subject matter.
Re: Divisional history of 20th ID in English completed
Hi everybody
I was unaware of what is discussed above. I do not understand why you clash on whether there is too much SS or not. It is not relevant in my humble opinion how much % is from either. I would be just happy that when you feel there is little published on more regular divisions, if there is new material available in English.
You all share the same interest: German units in WW2, why fight each other?
We should not fight but respect each other I guess
Hope you can all enjoy the divisional history of 20th infantry division
All the best from Holland
Roger

Re: Divisional history of 20th ID in English completed
Can everyone please try to stick as close as possible to the actual topic and refrain from straying away from it, and from commenting about other posters, please? Senior staff are aware and have already intervened once, try to make sure they do not do so again, as it would be a shame to see an interesting topic locked because people cannot adhere to the rules. Consider this an informal warning as to the likely fate of this thread if the rules are ignored again.

Off-topic post from Cult Icon, Ken S., and Sid Guttridge have been removed pursuant to the forum rules on topicality. -- DT.
app.php/rules5. Topicality
The fifth rule of the forum is: "Keep the message on topic." There are two aspects to this rule. The first involves topics which may be discussed in this section of the forum. The second involves staying on topic when posting to a thread.
[. . .]
Although there are occasionally exceptions, the forum management tries to keep a thread on a single topic. This makes it easier for readers to follow, and for researchers to subsequently locate, the discussions. If a poster would like to see further discussion of off-topic matters, please raise the subject in a pre-existing thread on that topic or, if there are no pre-existing threads, on a separate thread.
Non-complying posts are subject to deletion after warning.

Re: Divisional history of 20th ID in English completed
This is outstanding, as I'm writing about this division at this very moment. I'll be ordering at least one volume, great job! Does volume II cover the entire Velikiye Luki campaign?
Re: Divisional history of 20th ID in English completed
Hi WorldwarBill
Volume 2 covers the year 1942.
January 1943 is featured in volume 3
I am of course curious about what you are writing on "my" division
All the best
