Hello,

In autumn 2018 a new paratrooper book was released in Austria, which contains the memories of a highly awarded German paratrooper officer between 1941-1945:

Author: Rüdiger Zimburg/ Albrecht Zimburg (Hrsg.)

Title: Kriegserlebnisse eines Fallschirmjägers- Russland, Italien und Österreich 1941-1945

Language: German

Publisher: Österreichischer Milizverlag, Salzburg

Pages: 304 Seiten mit zahlreichen Karten und Abbildungen

Year of Publication: 2018

ISBN: 978-3-901185-60-1

Prize: 26,00 €

This book is a three-generation project. It describes the war experiences of the young, highly decorated (received the German Cross in Gold 1944) paratrooper Rüdiger von Zimburg (1923-1993) from 1941 to the end of the war.

At each home leave he told his father Heinrich Zimburg unvarnished about his front experiences, which he wrote down. After the war, Dr. Rüdiger Zimburg wrote these texts in plain language. His son, Dr. Albrecht Zimburg, worked out the text comprehensively and published it.

These memories show in sober language the relentlessness of the war, the extreme situations experienced and survived by the very young protagonist.
The presentation follows the horizon of the respective positions of Rüdiger von Zimburg from the raw recruit 1941 on the eastern front in Russia (2./Fsch.Jg.Rgt. 1), over the platoon leader (2./Fsch.Jg.Rgt.1), the company commander (11./Fsch.Jg.Rgt.1) in Italy 1943-1944, to the extremely young (22-year-old) battalion commander 1945 in Austria (I./Fsch.Jg.Rgt.30) on the eastern front again.

Due to the prompt transcription, this text is not subject to the "Transfiguration of Age", the forgetting, the suppression of the post-war years or the “political correctness” in the last decades.
The text is continuously indexed by carefully prepared and numerous footnotes and illustrated in great detail by photographs and sketches on maps. Numerous appendices and a detailed list of sources complete this highly recommended book.

Hello,
As far as I know from the author, no translation into English is planned at the moment.
But you can never know.

Since the first edition is almost sold out, the 2nd edition is currently being prepared for autumn 2019.

Best regards
