What are the best books for getting raw data about each country in WW2? Things like population, natural resources, factories, machine tools, production by each type of equipment, railroad capacity, shipping capacity, as well as the size of army, air force and navy, and losses?
Too many books say, "Britain produced this many fighters during the Battle of Britain" buried in some paragraph, and then don't tell you how many Germany was producing!

Re: Best books for getting raw data
Greetings,
No one book will cover what you want. So, start with these:
The Wages of Destruction By Adam Tooze (Germany)
Brute Force by John Ellis (Allies)
Absolute War by Chris Bellamy (Soviet Union)
Help this helps

Re: Best books for getting raw data
I've read Tooze. He has some data, but it's selectively presented and dispersed throughout the narrative he is trying to sell. I'm looking for something more like John Ellis' World War II Databook and World War II Statistical Survey - can anyone confirm if those are reliable?
