This is a reasonably detailed, straightforward account of German planning and operations in the first few years of the war against Russia. I found it to be an easily accessible reference when you need to look something up. Obviously it is dated (1955), but that just means you can skip the author congratulating himself on his "groundbreaking new study."

It has a detailed table of contents so you can quickly find what you're looking for.
