Post by Larso » 29 Mar 2021 11:57

Can anyone tell me which division the following authors served with?

Radio Operator on the Eastern Front by Erhard Steiniger (???) 320p, June 2021

We Will be Free by Thomas, Karl (???) 215p, 2015.

Death March into Russia by Lothar Hermann/Klaus Willman (Captured 1944) 256p,2019

The first book is an English translation of "Als Funker an den Brennpunkten der Front: Mit dem Infanterieregiment 151 der 61. Infanteriedivision in Russland, im Baltikum und Ostpreußen". As you may have seen, for most part of his military career, the author served in the 151st Infantry Regiment of the 61st Infantry Division.

Werner Kleine wrote Nightmare: War memories, an ordinary soldiers Notes (Alptraum: Kriegserinnerungen - Aufzeichnungen eines einfachen Soldaten)

It's in German and the translation feature hasn't given me a lot. The blurb says -

Is anyone able to tell me the details (or knows) of Werner's service?

And

KH Hartmann with Martina Schmid - '1941 - 1948: The Seven Longest Years of My Life'

He was on the east front, then in the SS. As he was captured by the Americans I'm guessing he was with one of the panzer divisions that fought in the west?
