Just wondering if the “Campaign in Russia” by Leon degrelle is that same book as the more recently released title “the eastern front”.

Cheers

Yes it is. Declarations page Indicates a reprint of the work with a change to the title.

A very common (and underhand) publishing tactic.

New book in English translation from an older Spanish one. Jose Riesco “Degrelle in Exile 1945-1994”. I have the book in hand and I can attest it’s a well written book - it’s like reading “Campaign in Russia” only it’s vol. 2 of Degrelle’s life post war in Spain. I’m 1/4 way into it and I find it a hell of a ride. Keep in mind, Riesco is an admirer of Degrelle and Fascism , so it won’t be of interest to some members. If you are interested in Degrelle as a man (personal and public) there is a lot of meat in this book.

Oh boy. I think you are in for a treat. This is the kind of book that’s hard to put down. I have not read a book like this for a long time. It keeps you interested and wanting to know more. Hope you like it.
I’m just past 50 pages and very engrossed. Thus far, Degrelle has taken a suicidal flight from Norway to Spain , crashing on fumes . He’s battered with compound fractures to his shoulder , arm , and foot. He’s in hospital in body cast awaiting his fate as Belgian authorities seek his extradition. Since they renounced his citizenship, Spain is reluctant to cough him up since he’s stateless. They resort to kidnapping and assassination attempts, they imprison his parents who die in gaol, they murder his brother, sentence his wife to ten years , and take and disperse their 5 children, the youngest 8 months old. Degrelle later writes one of his would be assassins a note of thanks for service to his country! (the man was a decorated WWI and WWII veteran who was SOE trained with the Belgian govt) The man later renounced his past wrong against Degrelle in 1974.
